116 Algebraic Inequalities from the AwesomeMath Year-Round Program (Xyz)
This book would certainly help Olympiad students who wish to prepare for the study of inequalities, a topic now of frequent use at various competitive levels. The inequalities from each section are ordered increasingly by the number of variables: one, two, three, four, and multi-variables. Each problem has at least one complete solution and many problems have multiple solutions, useful in developing the necessary array of mathematical machinery for competitions.

Such definitions and rules as are common to arithmetic and algebra have been given without labored illustration, or have been assumed as already familiar to the pupil.

As a preparation for the solution of problems by means of equations, well graded steps are given in the section preceding these problems for practice in the translation of quantitative statements from ordinary language into algebraic expressions.

Irrational Numbers: And Their Representation by Sequences and Series (Classic Reprint)

Irrational Numbers: And Their Representation by Sequences and Series (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from Irrational Numbers: And Their Representation by Sequences and Series

The infinite series is defined as a sequence written in a particular way. Theorems are given on the con vergency and use of infinite series sufficient to develop the exponential, binomial, and logarithmic series.

The theory of irrational numbers given in Chapter I has been adopted by Professor Fine, as stated else where (p. Perhaps I may be permitted to add that I did not see Professor Fine s book until after my manuscript was in the hands of the printer.

Higher Algebra: A Sequel to Elementary Algebra for Schools (Classic Reprint)

Higher Algebra: A Sequel to Elementary Algebra for Schools (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from Higher Algebra: A Sequel to Elementary Algebra for Schools

The present work is intended as a sequel to our Elementary Algebra for Schools. The first few chapters are devoted to a fuller discussion of Ratio, Proportion, Variation, and the Progressions, which in the former work were treated in an elementary manner; and we have here introduced theorems and examples which are unsuitable for a first course of reading.

From this point the work covers ground for the most part new to the student, and enters upon subjects of special importance: these we have endeavoured to treat minutely and thoroughly, discussing both bookwork and examples with that fulness which we have always found necessary in our experience as teachers.

It has been our aim to discuss all the essential parts as completely as possible within the limits of a single volume, but in a few Of the later chapters it has been im possible to find room for more than an introductory sketch in all such cases our Object has been to map out a suitable first course of reading, referring the student to special treatises for fuller information.

Elements of Algebra for Beginners (Classic Reprint)

Elements of Algebra for Beginners (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from Elements of Algebra for Beginners

IT 18 becoming more and more evident each year that a pupil receives more culture, makes greater progress in study, and, consequently, is better prepared for life, by beginning algebra early, than by Spending the same amount of time on arithmetic. And when properly presented by both teacher and text-book, the study of algebra has never failed to be interesting and profitable.

This book is written with the hope that it may contribute largely toward making algebra both valuable and popular to the young. To accomplish this end we have made the equation the most prominent idea of each chapter. In the first section we have made the transition from arithmetic to algebra so simple and easy that no pupil will experience any difficulty in mastering the elements of the science.

A third feature of this book is a clear and logical discus sion of all those processes that throw light and life into the Operations of arithmetic.

We express our sincere thanks for the assistance we have received from experienced teachers.

Pre-Algebra: Techniques, Problems, and Solutions

Pre-Algebra: Techniques, Problems, and Solutions
Algebra is an extremely important branch in Mathematics. To learn about the advanced algebra, we have to build the basic concept of it. This is the reason why this book was written. Learning Mathematics is an easy thing if we follow the right step in learning it. However, many readers feel like Mathematics is the hardest subject in high school. This is because they don’t know how to study it. This book will help the readers step by step, from the basic to advanced algebra. After reading this book, we really believe that the readers will change their mind from hating Algebra to loving it. We believe that they will think Algebra is easy like 1+1=2. This book has 8 chapters. They are: Chapter 1: Operations on Numbers Chapter 2: Polynomials Chapter 3: Basic Algebraic Identities Chapter 4: Methods in Factorization Chapter 5: Square Roots Chapter 6: Linear Equations in One Variable Chapter 7: Linear Inequalities in One Variable Chapter 8: Solving Quadratic Equations By Using Discriminant In each chapter, we presented exercises and their full solutions. We do not provide only the answers to the readers because we want the readers understand clearly about how to use the knowledge that they have learnt from each chapter. Moreover, we also have workbook for this series since we want the readers to discover the answers by their own. We hope the readers enjoy learning Algebra from this book. Spend less time but gain many techniques in doing Algebra!
